Ghabh
mi fhein is Catriona NicGriogair pàirt ann an Deasbad Naiseanta BT am bliadhna-sa
ann an Steòrnabhagh is Dun Eideann. Bha a’ chiad ’s an dàrna chuairt ann an Leòdhas
agus bha sinne a’deasbad mu dheidhinn phrògraman còcaireachd is bèicearachd is
an t-siostam foghlam a th’againn. Fhuair sinn troimhe don iar-chuairt
deireanach ann an Ionad nan Sgeulachdan ann an Dùn Eideann.
Thug
an deasbad oirnn ar sgillean labhairt a chleachdadh is bha feum agam
rannsachadh a dhèanamh gu mionaideach ann ùine gu math goirid. Dh’iarr e
cuideachd oirnn obrachadh air ar ceasnachadh.
Cha
robh sinn riamh air deasbad sam bith a dhèanamh is mar sin bha e gu math inntinneach
fhaicinn mar a bha e ag obair agus mar a bha sgoiltean eile a’ deasbad. Bha ìre
gu math àrd ann agus bha feum again a bhith ag amas air a sin. Cha robh sinn
idir an dùil dhèanamh cho math ’s a rinn sinn.
A
bharrachd air an adhartachadh a rinn sinn a thaobh ar sgillean, thug e cuideachd
cothrom dhuinn coinneachadh ri tòrr dhaoine ur bho air feadh na dùthca.
Chòrd
e rinn glè mhath agus tha sinn an dòchas tilleadh an ath bhliadhna ma ’s
urrainn dhuinn.
Mikaela Carmichael gives an account of her debate experience. Both she and Catriona thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They were pushed hard in terms of their debating and researching skills, and were very successful despite their inexperience. Meeting young Gaels from across the country was a particular highlight and opened their eyes to the growth of the language among young people. They both hope to get a chance to go one better next year and make it to the final!
